COVID-19 Update: Atiwa Landscape Platform launch postponed

9 March 2020 – The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) regrets to inform you that the launch of the Atiwa Landscape Platform that was scheduled on March 19, 2020, has been postponed until further notice.

The recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has affected at least 109 countries and territories around the world. After reviewing the latest advice and evidence, CIFOR has put in place a number of precautionary measures to both avoid infection of its own staff and to avoid infection of others. Amongst these include hosting or participating in events that involve international travels.

A number of Landscape Platform invitees and CIFOR staff and associates will be required to undertake such travels to participate in the inaugural meeting. Given the highly contagious and unpredictable nature of COVID-19, CIFOR considers that the organization of this event at this point in time poses an unacceptable risk to Landscape Platform invitees.

We sincerely regret having to take this precautionary decision and appreciate your understanding of its necessity. CIFOR nevertheless remains highly committed to furthering its engagement in Kwaebibirim Municipality and Atiwa West District. We will therefore continue to actively monitor the situation as it unfolds and will keep updating our stakeholders.Sharing
